Kayaking 

Take your exploration of Cape Smokey to another level by renting a kayak and paddling around the lake for some unique views and take in the serenity of nature.  Visit the Summit Shack to obtain your life vest and a key to your kayak then hike back to Hawley's Lake where your kayak will be located. It is approximately a 1.6km hike each way so please wear comfortable shoes with good traction. *Kayak rentals are free for a limited time with the purchase of a gondola ticket. 

Guided Hike 

Let an experienced Cape Smokey Guide take you on the 1.6km trail to Hawley's Lake.  Learn about the the flora and fauna, hear about the history of our beautiful area and look for signs of wildlife. It is approximately a 2.5 hour round trip and is available Friday - Sunday at 11am. *Guided Hike is $10 per person. You must purchase a Gondola ticket in order to buy the Guided Hike. 

Burning of the Fog

Come for this free event that takes place Friday-Sunday at 10am most mornings. This natural phenomenon allows you to watch the fog magically burn off to reveal the incredible views of the Cape Breton Highlands and Atlantic Ocean.  Listen and learn about how Cape Smokey got its name and see a beautiful medley of wonders as the light bends through the fog revealing the gorgeous surroundings. *You must purchase a Gondola Ticket in order to attend this event.
